The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) is the apex government organization mandated to promote and develop the country’s exports. Established in 1979, the EDB operates under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and plays a pivotal role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s export sector. It facilitates exporters and potential exporters in areas such as market development, trade facilitation, capacity building, and policy advocacy, with a strong focus on formulating and implementing strategies to enhance the nation’s competitiveness in global markets.
The EDB also collaborates with international organizations to support local enterprises and connect them with global buyers through a range of programs and platforms. With apparel being the leading export sector in Sri Lanka, the EDB conducts numerous product and market development initiatives aimed at positioning Sri Lankan apparel as a sustainable and reliable source of high-quality goods and services worldwide.
